Nagpur: Union minister Nitin Gadkari on Saturday said the Khasdar Audyogik Mohotsav (industrial exposition) would help in attracting investments in Vidarbha region and also in generating employment.
He was speaking during the inauguration of the first of its kind event to be held in the city at MIDC Industries Association (MIA) in Hingna. MP Vikas Mahatne, MSME director Prashant Parlewar and MIA chief executive officer Dr Shegaonkar graced the event.
“We always discuss the development of Vidarbha, but never focus on how to go about it. If the region wants to grow, we must encourage and inspire entrepreneurs. The youths should be innovative to become entrepreneurs and set up industries,” said Gadkari.
Stressing on the need to use new technology, the city MP said industrialists should find out new ways and means. “It is now possible to make paint from cow dong. This will increase entrepreneurship in rural areas and create employment. There are many commodities, especially in agriculture, rural and tribal, backward areas, where it is possible to set up industries. An increase in industrial production in these sectors will also increase employment opportunities. We also have the opportunity to make indigenous products exportable using modern technology,” Gadkari added.
The minister called on the MIDC to formulate a policy to start industries which are currently closed in Hingna or make way for others. “If MIDC gives more concessions to start industries in backward areas then those areas will develop. Even if decentralization of industrialization takes place, industries will grow in such areas,” he said.
